SUPPORT SADDLES
MIB hose based gas transfer package also includes the saddles for both the delivery and receiving vessels. The saddles provide the support of the transfer hoses in service as well as the guidance of the ERS hose side valve if released in an emergency.
MIB can provide different type of saddles depending on the operating condition and on the Customer demands.
For master vessel, both single saddle or double saddle design arrangements can be supplied and both options will come with a hydraulic braking system (fall arrest system) for each hose line. The purpose is to avoid the rapid speed of free fall controlling the descendance of the ERS hose side valve avoiding any potential damage both to the valve/hose and to the hull of the vessel.
For the slave vessel, the saddles typically accommodate one single hose and include a cylindrical profile which ensures that the hoses are adequately supported during service.
These saddles are supplied in light-weight aluminium to allow for easier handling from the master vessel to the slave vessel and vice versa by the deck crane or derrick. They are adjustable in height and once positioned they are kept in situ by water ballast.
In case of limited space in second vessel manifold area, MIB developed a very compact design, the chute design for direct installation on the Vessel handrail.
